Fin

As a famous pig once said, "That's all, folks!"

I've been back in Canada for a little over a month, and I was too distracted until now with the move and setting myself up to update On Paris. But when I ran into a friend on the street last week who was surprised I was back in Montreal mainly because I hadn't indicated anything on here, I knew it was time for one last post. So I'm now closing this project and thank those of you who've used it to follow some of my French adventures.

Looking back on the blog, it's definitely a wonderful record of much of what I saw while in Europe, and I'm grateful that this blog encouraged me to take more photos than I otherwise would have, and thus remember things and moments I might have otherwise forgotten. It was also a privilege to share with my dear followers my travels and some of my reflections.

... Some, but not all of my reflections. I will simply write now that there were a lot of thoughts I didn't post on here because, frankly, I was afraid they were often too presumptuous on my part, or even negative. As many of you who are also my facebook friends (i.e. most of you!) likely sensed from my postings there, my year in France came with as many frustrations as joys, and while there are things about Paris I already miss (the food, the personable civility of most---though not all---of the people, the museums) I can say that I'm glad to be back home. If I was reticent about venting here, it was out of a certain attempt at fairness and a desire not to turn the blog into a boring private soapbox.

There are two more partners I would like to thank whose contribution was invaluable. First, my MacBook Pro (which I've named "Brain"), on whom I composed these posts and edited the photos. Thanks, Brain!

Last but not least, my Panasonic Lumix digicam (I call it "Eye"... can you see a pattern?) with whom I took my the photos. Good work, Eye!

Now that I am no longer "on Paris" ("sur Paris," as the French sometimes say colloquially) I must head "on" to other things...

Merci,

Ed.
